يوجد في اليمن أكثر من ١٨٦ جزيرة بين صغيرة وكبيرة تعتبر من افضل واجمل الجزر في العالم البعض منها ماهوله بالسكان والاغلبية مهجورة ومنسية هذه الجزر لم يتم رعايتها و استغلالها سياحيا او استثمارها لصالح اليمن .الكثير من الدول اهتمت بجزرها وذلك لما يعود علي شعبها بالفائده من السياحة، وزائرين، ولكن للاسف بسبب الفساد السياسي والاداري في اليمن لم يستفد اليمن من الجزر بل على العكس كانت محل اطماع الدول الاخرى التي استعمرة الجزر على مر التاريخ حتى يومنا هذا.

جزيرة ميون أو جزيرة بريم
اين تقع جزيرة ميون؟
تقع في البحر الاحمر وتتبع الجمهوية اليمنية واداريا تتبع محافظة تعز مديرية ذباب او مديرية باب المندب

عدد سكان الجزيرة حسب اخر احصائية رسمية في ٢٠٠٤ بلغ٢٢١ شخصا
كم تبلغ مساحة الجزيرة؟
تبلغ مساحتها 13 كيلومتر مربع, بطول 5,67 مترا وعرض 2.85 مترا. وترتفع عن سطح البحر حوالي65 مترا.
مميزات جزيرة بريم
١- تطل على اهم مضيق تجاري وتعتبر من اهم المواقع المتحكمة بالمياة الاقليمية عسكريا وتجاريا .
٢ جزيرة بريم جزيرة بركانية الاصل صخرية لها شكل السلطعون (ابو مقص), يتواجد ميناء طبيعي كبير وعميق نسبيا فيها, كما يوجد فيها مطار للطيران.
٣- تعتبر من الجزر المأهولة بالسكان يتواجد فيها مجموعة من الصيادين

جزيرة ميون وباب المندب يمتلك مضيق باب المندب أهمية استراتيجية واقتصادية
لا مثيل لهما حيث يعتبر من الممرات العالمية ويمثل ثاني ممر دولي من حيث التجارة العالمية، ولكن للاسف بسبب الفساد الاداري والسياسي فقد تم تهميش مضيق باب المندب وتجاهل اهميته وعدم الاهتمام به واستغلاله من قبل الحكومه اليمنية حيث ان تم استغلاله استغلال صحيح سوف يرفع ايرادات الدولة الى حوالى مليار دولار سنويا ويوفر اكثير من فرص العمل لشباب كما تحدثت دراسات كثيرة ذلك . يبلغ عرضه حوالي ٣٠ كيلو متر يربط مضيق باب المندب البحر الأحمر بخليج عدن والمحيط الهندي ، ويفصل مضيق باب المندب الجزيرة العربية عن القارة الأفريقية، ويُشكّل المضيق حلقة وصل بين المحيط الهندي والبحر الأبيض المتوسط من خلال قناة السويس والبحر الاحمر، ويجدر الإشارة إلى أنّ جزيرة ميون تقسم المضيق إلى قسمين؛ وهما القناة الشرقيّة، والتي تُسمّى مضيق ألكسندر وعرضها 3 كيلومتر، والقناة الغربية هي دقة المايون، والتي تقع على مسافة 26 كيلومتر,
كما يتبع جزيرة ميون سبع جزر صغيرة تسمى جزر الاخوة السبعه في الممر الغربي قريبه من دولة جيبوتي
جزيرة بريم تاريخيا
على اهميتها الاستراتيجية والعسكرية التي يجهلها اليمنيين فقد احتلها الكثير من القوى الاستعمارية سابقا
شهدت جزيرة ميون محطات تاريخية عديدة، ففي عام ١٥١٣م احتلها البرتغاليون، وفي عام 1738م تعرّضت للاحتلال الفرنسي، ثمّ احتلتها القوات البريطانيّة عام٨٨، ولكن ارتحل البريطانيون عن الجزيرة وذهبوا إلى عدن؛ بسبب قلة المياه وندرتها، وفي عام 1857م عادت السيطرة البريطانيّة من جديد على الجزيرة، واستخدموها كمحطة لتكرير النفط، واستمرت على تلك الحالة حتّى ثلاثينيات القرن العشرين، وفي عام 1967م أي بعد استقلال اليمن أصبحت جزيرة ميون جزءاً لا يتجزأ من جنوب اليمن، وبعد توحيد اليمنيين عام 1990م أصبحت الجزيرة جزءاً من الجمهورية اليمنية، وتجدر الإشارة إلى أنّ الجزيرة لم تحظى بأيّ أهمية استراتيجية أو اقتصادية في أواخر القرن العشرين،

How big is the island?

Features of Prime Island
1- It overlooks the most important commercial strait and is considered one of the most important sites controlling regional waters, militarily and commercially.
2 Brim Island is a volcanic, rocky island that has the shape of a crab (Abu Maqs). There is a large and relatively deep natural port in it, and there is an airport for aviation.

Mayyun Island and Bab al-Mandab Strait of Bab al-Mandab has strategic and economic importance
They are unparalleled as it is considered one of the global corridors and represents the second international corridor in terms of global trade, but unfortunately due to administrative and political corruption, the Bab al-Mandab Strait has been marginalized, its importance ignored, lack of interest in it and its exploitation by the Yemeni government, properly exploited, it will raise state revenues to About one billion dollars a year and provides many job opportunities for young people, as many studies have mentioned. Its width is about 30 km. The Bab al-Mandab Strait connects the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait separates the Arabian Peninsula from the African continent, and the strait forms a link between the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea through the Suez Canal and the Red Sea, and it should be noted that Mayyun Island It divides the strait into two parts; They are the eastern channel, which is called the Alexander Strait and its width is 3 km, and the western channel is the accuracy of the Mayon, which is located at a distance of 26 km,
Mayon Island also follows seven small islands called the Seven Brothers Islands in the western corridor close to the State of Djibouti
Brim Island historically
Despite its strategic and military importance, which the Yemenis are ignorant of, many former colonial powers occupied it
Mayon Island witnessed many historical milestones. In 1513 AD it was occupied by the Portuguese, and in 1738 AD it was under the French occupation, then the British forces occupied it in 88 AD, but the British left the island went to Aden. Due to the of water and its scarcity, and in 1857 AD, British control returned to the island again, and they used it as an oil refining station, and it continued in that situation until the thirties of the twentieth century. In 1990 AD, the island became part of the Republic of Yemen, and it should be noted that the island did not have any strategic or economic importance in the late twentieth century.
